Crown Enhance the Look, Protection & Function of a Damaged Tooth

What is Dental Crown?

Dental Crown is fixed prosthetic device made to resemble its original tooth in order to fulfil aesthetics and function. It is permanently cemented onto existing teeth or dental implants, and can only be removed by a dentist.

Why do I need a Dental Crown?

A crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.

Your dentist may recommend a crown to:

  • Replace a large filling when there isn't enough tooth remaining
  • Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • Restore a fractured tooth
  • Attach a dental bridge
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Cover a discolored or poorly shaped tooth
  • Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment
  • How are Dental Crown made?

Your dentist will discuss with you on the preferred shape and colour. A dental impression is taken to provide an exact mold for the crown and sent for fabrication. At PKWY Dental Specialist Practice, it can be created within a day with our CADCAM Dentistry, saving patient and doctor visits and time. Once the dental crown is fabricated, it is permanently cemented in place, instantly restoring your teeth to its original and natural shape.

How long do Dental Crown last?

Dental crown can last a lifetime however they do sometimes come loose or fall out. The most important step you can take to ensure the longevity of your crown is to practice good oral hygiene.
